stampede spring upgade help Empty stampede spring upgade help

Post  sinicysm Sat Dec 18, 2010 3:47 pm

Hey guys, new to the forum and just modding my first nerf stampede ecs.

I am just wondering where I can get an upgraded spring?. I've tried bunnings, though it seemed they didn't really have anything there that would work to replace the stock stampede spring. There was a spring that was similiar however thickness of the spring seemed to be way too thick. I read on here that alot of people use the C-836 Bunnings Spring in other guns. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with upgrading the spring in the stampede n strike ecs?

    Cheers

Check out black tactical's website. They're a Singaporean based business who sells a bunch of parts which you can use to modify your blaster. They have a stampede mod kit up for 17 Singaporean dollars. Worth having a look I think.

If you were to use a c-836 spring in a stampede you'd kill it in a heartbeat, try a Lanard trippleshot spring from a lanard shotgun. Also people on here tend to use c-836 springs only for nitghtfinders.

I would not think it to be a good idea to try C836 in a stampede, as that the C836 spring is a monster and is good for breaking things.

The TripleShot spring works well. as that is what I have in my stampede. Remember if you do upgrade the spring, pad the plunger head and some form on re-enforcement live filling the back of the plunger head with epoxy/hot glue or something.

    Gooni.

My Longshot broke from a C-836. I'd hate to see what it does to a Stampede.

It broke your longshot because you were most likely loading it with only one hand, thus putting a lot of stress on only one side of the bolt sled. In a stampede the bolt sled has an equal amount of load and thus is not under the same stresses as your longshot.

Now that i have had a reason to post in this thread, i can mention that i will 'one day' be getting stampede springs made. I have 2 of them that i am likely to be having made, one of which is for FFP style play and is therefore capable of 50ft shots and will work without a battery mod. The second spring will require the end user to upgrade the voltage of their Stampede to 12v to work.

I am not 100% but it is not real good, 50-60ft, as I dont have a 100ft tape anymore and nor the room to really get an idea. I will bring it to the next war.

Would a longshot spring work in a stampede? Or a nf spring?

Longshot spring... I guess you haven't even opened up your Stampede or have a stampede. No it doesn't. The longshot spring is like twice the diameter of the actual plunger tube! . Nitefinder springs do work but you have to cut it down for it work.

    I just noticed that now...
I just haven't opened my longshot in a while.
So on my stampede I'm stuck with the stock spring... For now.

How much do you have to cut off a nf spring to add it to a stampede? Why cant you just add it in 'as is'?

Just thought I'd update this thread on how sinicysm (the op) and I went with the upgrade kit from Black Tactical (link to all their nerf stuff - http://black-tactical.com/store/weapon-accessories-foam-gun-parts-c-69_30)
Combined with an upgrade to 15v using a 10AA battery holder hard wired into the battery tray (saves heaps of weight and AA's are cheap) this gun is now a total beast!
ROF is faster but without jamming and range nearly doubled.
Just be aware that some guns may be worse off using the new O ring provided as the fit is too tight. This happened to one of our guns.

Yeah, if you throw a C-386 spring into a stampede, it won't last all of five seconds. Can't help ya with what kind of spring you should throw into it though. Just go with an ROF increase using 16 volts.

Well I just ordered a stampede spring from this guy a few days ago. He responds to your pms pretty fast and is really helpful, also makes custom longshots which look awesome.

Put in under stock spring to achieve 70 ft, no need for o-ring replacement or padding, I'll do a review when I get it.

I've just added a maverick spring to the standard spring in the tube. The blaster is running 12v's and now fires approx. 15m.

After being hit on the forehead by a stefan at 10m from a stampede with the Black Tactical upgrade kit (this left a large swollen egg)
I've used this added spring to give the blaster better playing ability indoors and save the accidental damage, like dents in the walls.

While saying this though I've also bought a BT up grade kit for the $57 K mart stampede we'll get this week.

    __________________________________________________________________________

I've put a BT upgrade kit in the new stampede, it was awesome. I've started to test the limit of what the stampede will take and now I am running a BT spring and a cut down NF spring. It runs nicely at 12v but won't even start at the standard 9v. It may break, we'll see.

I'll do a proper distance test when I have the circumstance (Brisbane's currently underwater). It seems to be up with our modded longshot at roughly 25m.
