Hi Guys n Gals.
I'm one of the Admins for the Canberra & Southern NSW Dart Tag (soon to be known far and wide as Dart Tag Australia).
It will be 'Wagga' rules style game, and socks and foam blasters will be allowed.
If you are keen to attend I would ask that you RSVP to the FaceBook event notification:
https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=187695254596519
You will also find pictures of the playing area and a map there.
Everything else you need to know:
The event will be held on Saturday the 19th of February. Safety briefing will be held at 11.00am and the first game will start at 11.30am. We aim to finish up by 4 – 4.30pm. There will be a 30 minute break 1.30 – 2.00pm. This will give you a chance to have a rest, have a drink and/or something to eat and have a chat.
The event will be held in the extreme Western section of Haig Park in Turner/O’Connor. The section of park we are using is set by the boundaries of McCaughey, Masson, Froggatt and Ormond/Condamine Streets. The assembly point/car parking area is at the child care centre on Ormond/Condamine Streets. There are toilets and shops 500mtrs North-east of the assembly point (follow Condamine St until it joins up with MCaughey St and then turn left).
If you look at it via satellite the playing area doesn’t look very impressive: type "Treehouse in the Park, 57 Ormond St, Turner ACT" into Search Maps on Google Maps and you will see the playing area. On the ground it’s actually a pretty decent spot (and the satellite image seems a bit old). I’ve chosen this spot for the following reasons:
· There is plenty of cover for ‘fire and movement’
· There is plenty of shade
· The park is generally very quiet so we don’t need to worry too much about civilians
· Its central so public transport links are there if you need it.
The Important Stuff:
'Wagga' rules apply. For those unfamiliar with this it will be explained on the day.
Foam blasters and socks are allowed.
Bandanas will be supplied.
Tactical gear, BDU's and painted blasters are OK. But remember you are in a public park and common sense should prevail.
Games will be moderated. The moderators will be responsible for gameplay and your safety. Their decision on any matter is final.
Guns mods are allowed. Dart mods are not. Let me repeat that – no modded darts/ammo. No stefans, no weights or pins in the end – standard foam darts. This is for your own and everybody else’s safety. There will be a safety briefing before any gameplay and your darts will be checked by a moderator. It would be a good idea to wear eye protection anyway!
There are no age restrictions. HOWEVER, this is not an organised club event, nor is it affiliated with any group. That means we won’t be providing first aid or refreshments so if you're under the age of 16 please make your parents aware of this.
