Melbourne Wars ??

Since I have joined the forum (which isn't that long ago) there havent been any wars in Melbourne all Brisbane, Perth, Sydney and Adelaide.

So if someone could "please" host some Melbourne wars it would be greatly apreciated.

I would host it but I have lack of equipment and experience with nerf wars.

Worth noting: It's about 45min from where you are to our normal war location/s.

I'll probably organise one soonish, but there is alot on for me in the next few weeks so it might not be for a month or so.

It will more than likely be held at breaside park.

I had a feeling something like this was going to happen.

As far as I'm concerned, it seems most of the major players are busy attending their own avenues and commitments outside of nerf; we do have lives after all. As for myself, I'm currently busy looking for full-time work while stricken down by a viral infection.

I'm probably planning to hold a war sometime next month during the holiday break on the west side of Melbourne (think Brimbank Park or Essendon Keilor College - E. Keilor Campus). And I will would like to hold a meeting with the big guns to organise wars within specific zones around Melbourne to cater for everyone around here, considering that most of the wars seem to be on the south east of things (don't look at me, I'm north west, uleh bro).

I don't really consider myself a "big gun" of the Melbourne scene, but I don't mind helping/organising when I have time.

I am not a big gun of the Melbourne Nerf community, but I'm nearing the end of my physiotherapy and will be able to run again soon. I've been lurking occasionally, keeping an eye out for a Melbourne war.

What would help the scene at this stage is if people told us whereabouts within Melbourne/outskirts are located to help organise the war location options that are available for us to maximise turn up numbers.

I think I border the north west and west not sure wich one im in.

You may want to affix far far to the front of where whichgrep and I are. We're a fair way further out than Mooroolbark is...

And pretty interested in nerf wars in Melbourne since the only one i've ever seen on Oznerf was the day of my brother's wedding

There have been plenty of wars in Melbourne just not in the last month and a bit.

I've been sick for the past few weeks and with uni back I don't have alot of free time.

Meeting up soon to work out when to have some wars would be good.

You both make this task more difficult. I don't mind if you disclosed a suburb adjacent to yours within the same postcode if you have any doubts over security, but I'm not willing to plot out on a map with larger circles with "X person possible lives in this area based on distance/displacement/travel time w/r to road speed limits etc" to plan future wars.

Hey SS I think this thread backs up exactly what I was telling you a few months ago.

Host wars every fortnight like we were and no one shows up. Leave it for a while and you have hoards of people asking what the hell is going on.

This is how we fixed our problem in Brisbane for hosting Nerf Wars. From what I'm hearing, it sounds like you guys have the same problem as Brisbane.

South Nerfers - Population 25%
North Nerfers - Population 75%

If I were to host a northside war, I'll get MUCH more people. However, I can't be bothered hosting something too far from where I live because I won't know what the 'battlefield is like'. I don't want to waste petrol finding out either.

I host Southside wars, and 25% of the North Nerfers go to South Wars. Just because we have dart hire.

The best way I could do it was to find a central location - which I did. We get pretty much 40 people in one park. I dunno, find somewhere it's central so it takes everyone the same amount of time to get there.

Only problem is, "central" locations are still an hours drive for most of us.

I guess the other plan is to get the neighbourhood into it. We have this guy who lives near stradbroke. He's got about 10-15% of his street to get into it. He first started off with just his family. He's now got like 12-14 warring on a weekly basis.

Yeah, but you did it for the main purpose of training us for RoF as opposed to getting casual wars going.

I'm sorry, but I do find your comment patronising considering what I'm currently doing with the member list here. It's, like, stating the obvious here.

Anyways, going by what thestick has implied there is no such perfect centralised location to hold a war based on where everyone is currently located. Going by the list, it seems that the majority of us somehow managed to live around 30-50mins outside of the CBD in a rather perverse radial fashion. And to add to that, a proper centralised meeting place would most likely be the goddamn cop shop along Lt. Collins St. in the city.

Based on the list so far, it seems that the closest we can do (which I have talked about briefly with some of you IRL) would be to hold wars in different zones around Melbourne. Our locations would be more spread out than observed in Adelaide and so I propose that the locations be split up accordingly:

• West - Keilor East/Niddrie/Taylors Lakes etc.
  
• East - Doncaster/Alphington etc.
  
• South-East - Elsternwick/Dandenong etc.

At least you get the general makeup of the situation here.

Depends where. I'm really interested in the Dandenong one.

I'll post details tomorrow after I scout out the location I'm planning to organise. It will be a western district war around the Keilor Park area.

Depending on who is coming and who is willing to drive there, I will hold it either on the 17th or the 18th of April (I'm leaning towards the 17th).

I'll have lots of things to sell from blasters to springs. Cash up everyone.
