Qld gun laws changing to affect toys? Empty Qld gun laws changing to affect toys?

A friend posted this link on Facebook tonight because he knows I've gotten into collecting and painting Nerf guns over the last 5 weeks or so... sounds a little worrying

    Yep,

No big surprise that the authorities are looking in to this....

If you're over 18, you can walk in to a multitude of shops and purchase hunting/fishing/tactical knives with no questions asked. But, a toy gun on the other hand...

    Cheers,

That's bloody ridiculous! Surely the cops have bigger fish to fry than charging a six year old for wielding his new water gun?

The date on that article is August 4th, 2010.

Did the changes actually pass or not?

i remember reading this last year.

it only counts for weapons more likely to look like actual firearms. aka replicas.

however, this does not take into account toy guns with "safety tips" aka orange barrels. Nerf is fine. however black nerf guns are kinda a grey area.

if the legislation did pass and it did affect nerf, do you really think they would still be sold?

Sorry guys, the way my friend put it to me this was a new news piece from last month, I didn't even see the year, just the date ... numpty. I'm still confused by the gun laws here tbh. In the UK I collected Airsoft (regular and CO2) and when I moved back to Oz I had to sell them all (gutted!). I contacted a gun store owner here who told me I can buy Airsoft here, but I need a regular gun license at a cost of $1600 and a 6 month wait. So I need a license for a REAL gun, to own a plastic gun... seems a bit silly, would be rather tempting to by a real gun if I had that option I think. Also I've seen actual metal replicas for sale in gift stores here, I assume they're just over the counter. The whole thing is very strange and illogical to me.

Gift shop in Logan and in Helensvale (though that shop is gone now). Revolvers (Ned Kelly's gun, famous cowboys etc) and even a sweet Walther PPK and a Glock. The Glock particularly surprised me.

    Airsoft glocks or non-function ones?
