When:
Date: SUNDAY 18th March 2012
Time: 12:00am - 1pm Barbie lunch. 1pm - 4:30pm NERF.
Where:
Location: Darebin Parklands
Street: Yarana Rd, Alphington
Meeting Place: "The Shelter"
http://imageupload.org/getlinks.php?s=d9c125e792258845d0bccbde78ed544c
What to Bring:
appropriate blasters and equipment (primaries, secondaries, shields etc.)
darts (suggested amount is 150+) and other munitions (eg. grenades)
Money for snags and drinks
safety eyewear - PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR OWN, NO PROTECTION NO PLAY!
appropriate clothing
bandannas
food/drink if you're not buying anything
Game Modes:
pistols-only
FFP
Sheild wars CTF (A game type i would like to try)
King of the Castle (Darebin has an excellent hill we can use)
Rules:
No realistic looking blasters are to be used. Don't even think about rocking up with black blasters.
No snap caps or heavies (splitshot 0 or larger for the ill-informed); public goers are around and I'm not having the stray shot hurt someone.
No cheating, if the ref calls a hit just accept you were hit and go and respawn. Arguing the point with the ref will cost you an extra life.
Be wary of other public goers around the area.
Singled Titans/other long-ranged airgun users must be approved by the war organiser. Pretty obvious.
No barrel tapping; go find yourself a foam bayonet if you feel compelled to go melee with your blaster.
Everyone is responsible for their own equipment. MARK YOUR CLIPS, BLASTERS AND DARTS and anything that is yours in general if you expect to get it back at the end of the day. Any unmarked stock darts found at the end of the day will be kept by me.
No bullying; it's rather self-explanatory.
Everyone must dart sweep.
Attendee List:
Please see the Link above to Austrlian nerf for Attendance Details
Seeing as though this will be the first war i will have hosted I'd really appreciate if as many people could turn as possible, i'd hate it to be a flop due to attendance (I am more than capiable of causing that by myself). I would like to request two main things that people bring besides their regular blasters and equipment; A bucket (or similar) with your name on for dart sorting, and a sheild of a size no larger in any dimension than the length from your knuckle to elbow. I myself will be making the cheapest most horrible sheild out of cardboard that i will whip together in about 10 mins, so you really dont have to go to spend a lot of time on it, but please guys, make the effort.
I would also really appreciate if you read the ALL of the rules for the different types of game play, especially that of FFP, and the newly created sheild wars CTF, which i would like to trial. http://australiannerf.com/forum/index.php?topic=737.0
Darebin Parklands is easily accessable via train on the Hurstbridge line, from Alphington station, so there really should be no reason that people aren't able to make it. I am also willing to ferry a few people if they are somewhere near by, or can't walk from the station to the shelter as they have too much gear. If you are in any doubt how to get from where you live to Darebin, simply use this link ]http://jp.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/metlink/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en] to access the Metro Journey planner.
I'd really appreciate it guys if you could help make this event run as smoothly as possible, especially because this will be the first event i have hosted. If anyone is able to bring such items as flags, cones, armbands etc. it woulld be much appreciated (drop me a message if you are able to bring something). I'd also really like to let you know now that i will expecting people to be as prompt as possible when gearing up for the next round of battle. As has been pointed out by SS, there is FAR too much downtime in between round, largely due to the majority of people not sweeping properly (Come on guys, its pretty simple, EVERYONE SWEEPS). This also inlcudes dart sorting (which is why I'd like you to bring the tubs). The other reason for the significant down time is there is also far too much idle chat and trading when its really not appropriate. I will significant breaks throughout the day, so its not like you'll miss out!
Apart from that, i really hope you guys can make it and enjoy!
