I'm wanting to keep my guns able to fire streamlines
due to regular battling with people who don't mod their guns (kids and idiots)

So I'm looking into modding Nerf's standard Streamlines
and just wanted some feedback from you guys
as to which methods you find work best.

Online, modding Streamlines is like curing hiccups
Everyone's got their own way of doing it
and for each way there's a horde of supporters
and nay sayers who claim it ruined their darts/guns.

After a lot of searching, the 2 methods which seem easiest and most effective to me are
    1. Filling the tip with hot glue
    2. inserting a drinking straw into the dart

Anyone have any experience with these mods
or would recommend any other mods?

(in b4 "Streamlines are shit, Stefans rule!" yadda yadda)

    Cheers

Just chamber your guns in 16mm electrical conduit and it will fit stream lines and blue and red foam darts I've found. tried those miss want impressed with the results but they definitely do improve the range and hitting power with the cost of accuracy sometimes. Also if you want the ability to fire standard streamlines effectively still some of the higher powered mods make them spiral out of control

Thanks for the help so far,

    Sicnut,
I'm not sure what chambering is
    or what electrical conduit is..

or what blue and red foam darts are.

I have hot glue tipped about 40 of my standard darts for use in my modded stamp, it helps!

I put some straws in my darts and that just made them more mid/back heavy (go figure) and fly even worse! I tried a mix of both and still no joy. I am thinking of some good hard domed stefans for wars, coz i am sick of the kids saying "na, that didnt hit me" - i want to hear em scream when i hit em

Can i be bothered glue tipping 200+ darts... that is the question!!!

Hey yeah, what is a "Snap Cap"?
I've heard that term quite a bit.

I'm assuming its the material the tip of the dart is made from..
    Can anyone elaborate?

    ...and just to clarify,
it's standard practice at a nerf war for everyone to bring and only use their own darts yeah?
so if your darts are better than everyone else's, you get the upper hand?
And you don't have you make you gun/darts compatible with anyone else's darts/gun?

    I recommend using snap caps.

They are easy, cheap and efficient to make. Also performance is great.

This will explain what a snap cap is ...

    http://www.pro-dec.com/snap-caps

They are used as a dart tip with optional weight put in them.
Another 'stefan' version of this consists of washers and felt tips but snap caps are much easier like Acerised said.

My modding advice would be just to throw them away and make stefans LOOL. But seriously, you should do the straw in the middle mod, and then rip the dome off and then apply a glue dome or some sort. Therefore, you have stability, weight, toughness, reliability, and you are still keeping the basic size, shape, and material of the stock streamline dart.

I agree with broshkin, make stefans. Just like me, I make my own stefans and have developed it into a small selling service.

Ah, I get what a snap cap is.
    Thanks Shadow.

Currently, I've cut open and hot glue filled a bunch of streamlines.
You can already feel the overall weight and front weighting difference.

I've also put a straw down the middle of 1 (only had time to make 1)
and it's improved the dart quite drastically again.

I settled on using a Subway straw due to their nice size and weight
(slightly thinner than a Hungry Jacks straw and a lot lighter, so it wouldn't unbalance the dart)

I pulled the dart tip off and then inserted the straw the entire length of the dart, then slid the stalk of the cap down inside the dart applying glue to the end of the straw both inside and out.

Currently the thought of making Stefans scares me as it seems that it's impossible to create Stefans the same size as Streamlines so modifications of both guns and clips is necessary. Plus I don't know where to purchase materials etc. etc.
    Just seems to hard.
Am I just scared and lazy?

You can purchase stefans from dart services online or on oznerf and also you can easily modify some of the smaller guns to work with your stefans.
