I've only just gotten into Nerf, but the first thing I did was disassemble my first two blasters & look inside. I was messing around with my Reflex, figuring that there wasn't much damage I could do. I don't have any tests for range, but I thought I'd post some photos of what I did with the AR.
1. Use a sharp, narrow blade to break the seal around the end of the plunger.
2. I used a pair of pliers to get a good grip to pull the end of the plunger off, you can see where the seal hadn't been completely removed & I've damaged the edge.
3. As soon as I took the end off, the spring & AR fell out. Underneath, I clipped out the central piece (you can see where I'd already drilled out the peg).
4. I sanded the inside of the tube, replaced the end, & taped over the hole.
Protip: when putting the Reflex back together, make sure you tuck the large spring behind the internal wall (there's some really good photos in this thread), or else the shell won't close properly.
