main site is down.

Can someone in the know please say what is going on? I have to use the forumotion site to post this, the www.oznerf.com domain is down.

The domain name expired mate. Happened a few days ago.

I don't know why the owner didnt tell us it was going to lapse, I get that they have moved on to bigger and better things but I for one am happy to take ownership and pay for it, just because this community is that awesome (:

OzNerf has always been "owned" by forumotion, which hosts sites for free - hence why we have so much advertising on here.

We have the "founders" but no owners as such. Still, I'm unsure as to why forumotion didn't notify us of the change, and their reasoning behind it.

Forumotion isn't responsible for the change, its who ever the domain was bought off. Eg. Godaddy.com

Yeh, well whatever it may be, it's not a big issue. I've had at least 20 emails from member's crying about it... not really the end of the world boys 'n girls.

I hope I aren't one of those people you're talking about who emailed 'crying about it', I actually thought I was doing you a favor by letting you know there was a problem, it wasn't meant to be some whinge.

It is a shame it lapsed, because the url was synonymous with the site, I know on other forums where you're not allowed to link I've written OzNerf.com many times, now they all go nowhere... doh!

No, definitely not referring to you mate, that's for sure. A few member's let me know there was issues, and I was thankful for the notification, but I still haven't got an answer as to why.

But there were a lot more emails just blatantly whinging about how the address had changed, and why would I let it happen?? Unfortunately, I'm the newest of the 2 Admin's, and neither Littlebro nor I are the founder's, so there's not much we can do about it.

I'm not sure what the history is with the url obviously, but it looks like it was purchased through a third party private registration company who bought it via GoDaddy, so I assume someone in the US purchased the domain back in the day. It was renewed 5 days ago for one year (so it runs out July 2013), so assuming they update their DNS forwarding to the right url, it will work again, of course they could just as easily point it anywhere they like now, thus poaching your audience, or park it and inflate the domain price.

I don't know why people would be moaning about it, it's not like you can do anything about it lol.

haha, I'll believe you - nice explanation!! I have no idea whatsoever... I weld stuff together for a living, and have limited web knowledge.

I'll attempt to contact the founder's again and see if they can shed some light.

Hey guys, since I do own this site, I should of been on top of this problem.. I originally bought the domain through forumotion using credits that people have donated. Its a shame that I received no email about it expiring... Hopefully I can work something out.. Sorry.

Edit: I would love to change the address to oznerf.com.au for the time being to sort this domain problem out, if thats ok with you joey.

I am fine with whatever. Currently I am just redirecting to the forumotion page, if you know a way I can host it that is fine too. Otherwise if you need some cash to get the real domain I can lend a hand there as well

At the bottom of the page there is a link for 'contribution' use that to donate money, this will buy forumotion credits that can be used to pay for the oznerf.com name again.

I thought they shut the site down.
