Yup.. I found the noise pretty irritating. That being said, it does sound noisier on the video than in real life (pretty much because it's right next to the camera mic!). Solid Snake definitely couldn't use one of these

Alright despite my distaste for the noise I heard over various internet video demo, I couldn't resist getting one today as I like the idea of a semi-auto pistol. I am actually pleasantly surprised the noise is not as loud as I expected. Initially I thought if I switch it on at night, it would disturb other family members in the house. But I find that if I close my room's door, you can't hear it from outside. Maybe the rechargable NiMH AA batteries I am using now are low in power, which may explain the noise is not that loud. I have ordered the unprotected Trustfire Li-on batteries as recommneded by SGnerf, maybe the higher power will create a much louder noise. Will have to wait and see.

Three other modifications posted by SGnerf are:
1) Taping of flywheel so to allow firing of streamline darts. I am going to try as it seems easy.

2) Relocation of pressure pad to trigger. May not attempt this as I don't have soldering equipment and I have no experience in soldering. Anyone here who has done this mod can comment whether the response time during a Nerf war is much faster than just switching it on with its stock switch?

3) Streamline clip conversion. Now this is quite an advanced mod with cutting and precise alignment of screws (or Raider mag well). Won't attempt this mod so soon.

I already had a look in the Targets over here, couldn't find anything at the several I went to. It's the first time I've seen it on shelf anywhere.

Target Bullcreek had them on Saturday, 20% off. I grabbed an Alpha Trooper, $29 before 20% discount.

After playing with one and seeing the clip and trigger activated mods I am actually liking it a hell of lot more. Need to play with a finished one in a few wars too see but it just may replace my mav.

I'd have to agree with you there, the mods are pretty sweet. I had the luck of getting my hands on one, stock, to use at a war in a pistols only HvZ game (lol) and it jams a bit too much for my liking. There's probably a technique to it that I'm unaware of XD

I've got one, they're OK.

It's not a "I'ma sneak up on ya" kind of gun, if you want a 10 round pistol and the ability to sneak, use a furyfire. (even though they're $10 more expensive and much harder to come across)

BTW- technically Snake Could use one, just NOT for sneaking...

Do you mean you have modded yours to include the clip and trigger activated mods? If so, was it hard and how long to do those mods?

Jams a lot? Is that Barricade a stock one or a modded one? My stock Barricade has no jamming problem so far.

I've seen the jamming problems occur, it mainly happens when someone tries to pull the trigger too fast.

It's not so much a jam as it is a problem with the rotation mech. Remember a jam is something that cripples the gun's functionality, such as a round being caught in the chamber and in the holder, preventing it from rotating or firing. Just slap the trigger firmly and the rotation will complete smoothly.

In use with the LongStorm, it's a very reliable weapon after only about 10 minutes practice. Wartested, it kicks ass when used in it's proper position, which is as a sidearm, or a mounted intergration.

You must not have suffered a real jam then. The barricade IS crippled when it jams. you have to get a stick to shove the dart through into the barrel.

Saw this gun in K-market the other day and the craziest idea came to mind... A MantaCade! Twenty shots on semi auto... From one hand! 40 if you duel wield!

I got my Barricade for Christmas, it's not too bad, it looks pretty sweet wtih the Recon shoulder stock and tactical light on it.

My bro got one, when it jams it jams bad, often so badly that you just drop it, oh yes and you would have a hard time hitting the side of a barn with it.

Yep sometimes you get good units, sometimes you get really bad ones, I suppose that is true of most nerf guns.

Perhaps it's your batteries that's affecting the performance. The Barricade eats through AA's pretty fast.

Nope, it licked anus, even with fresh batteries.

But they were from chicken feed...
