60-100ft recon. Is it possible? What do I need? Extra spring in the stock, double internal springs, lube, strong catch spring, reinforced plunger head and bolt?

Re: 60-100ft recon
Sorry to be so blunt. But you'd be incredibly lucky to pull 60 flat out of a recon, 100 is completely out of the question. Inverse plunger, dead space in the bolt, bad seal around the breach etc.. all mean... not going to happen.

Re: 60-100ft recon
I have got just over 60 feet with a recon, but it isn't worth it. The gun had the AR removed, and a very powerful spring in the stock, but it was so hard to load that it became impossible for any normal person under 14 to load. Even I found it hard to load and I'm not weak. It would be completely impossible to use in a war.
so, its doable, but not useable.

Re: 60-100ft recon
I'm same as Aardman. Modded the hell outta my recon and it barely scrapes the 60 mark. Invest in a Longshot if you want range from a Nerf product as stock, but you're still going to have to mod it up to get the best of it. Otherwise re-barrel a nitefinder and have some fun

Re: 60-100ft recon
I could get 60 feet with one by throwing it i think.
Nah, even that would be pushing it.
It's not for long-range

Re: 60-100ft recon
A good LOOKING rifle maybe, but not a good rifle. A good rifle would have decent range (70-ish feet) and decent accuracy. The Recon has neither. Once you hit the 60' mark you're getting fishtailing darts, nigh-impossible to cock springs, lots of jams from bad attempts at cocking, the list goes on. Without extensive rebarreling, angel-breeching, spring replacement, plunger re-enforcement - and generally stripping all but the shell and replacing the rest - it's just nowhere near as good as a longshot or modded big blast. I should know, I modded the hell outta mine. All that time and effort when for $20 extra I could've gotten a gun with better range, accuracy and looks. You see, to make it LOOK like a rifle, you have to add the range-reducing barrel extension and the near-useless, bendy shoulder stock (unless you've got a raider stock lying around). The Longshot already looks like a rifle, especially without the useless front gun.
The recon's not the worst gun (for me that award still lies with the hornet), but it certainly not the best - not by a longshot...
...pun intended...

Re: 60-100ft recon
Wow, in what way do you think the hornet is bad? range can be fixed incredibly by carefully drilling out the restrictors. I think Tidge's was getting like 80 feet plus. Anyway, to each his own, right. I personally hate the buzzbee rapid fire rifle. So much so that I actually smashed one to peices with a hammer.beigeman wrote:The recon's not the worst gun (for me that award still lies with the hornet
