    Post  melbourneSTORM4eva Sun Feb 21, 2010 12:41 pm

    Hey guys,
this is my "warn effect" Desert camo raider.
I made a real looking ACOG scope for it that has a painted cross hair and Plexiglas lens.
It looks great, here are some pics. It's probably the best gun Ive painted.
Yes there are six pics, don't get to angry.
It only has basic internal mods, nothing special, hitting 30-37 flat and 37-50 angled.

Please tell me what you think, i will think about selling this but a want a very good price, way to much work has gone into the painted, modding, and fixing it broken out of the box, so please tell me you're hounest opinion on the paint job and HOMEMADE scope!!

Great paintjob but no offense it's not like I could do better but the acog scope looks a bit "questionable" but yeh I rlly like the paintjob!
Also did you make the acog from a sawed longshot scope and a recon flipup sight??

    Yeah, it was very rushed.
No, the scope was made from various PVC sizes and yes, the recon flip site bottom, I'm not too happy on the scope but very happy on the paint job, I will make a scope that is ten time better than this one.

And what do you mean, "questionable" because if you don't believe me I will make a video showing how I made the scope and it will look exactly the same, I did not just chop up a longshot scope, I dont even have one.

Looks nice but has anyone ever thought of changin the pump action handle to one that looks like a shotgun pump cos the raider has the potential to look like a kick ass shotgun.

I think the idea behind the scope is great, but could have been implemented with more care, same with the paintjob; the colour choices are sound but the brushwork seems sloppy.

The guys that sell painted guns for a 'very good price' either do supertight work (Tigadee etc from NH) or cant paint for shit but have a legion of youtube fans too stupid to notice the difference (ice)

Keep painting, take your time, mask parts if you need to and make sure you plan your paintjobs well... ie: I would have painted the front coupler on the scope before assembly so the inside wouldn't be bare.. I realise if you did it post assembly you wouldn't want to paint the plexiglass.. but you need to think about that kind of stuff in advance

No, I agree with AJ, he is truly right, besides the brush work is sloppy(that type of paint job is meant to be messy(camo is random)) But yes it looks good, but very unorganized. Now I have thought, no im not going to grab the brush and paint what comes to my head, Ill plan it out.
Thanks for the advise mate, and yes ,ice pisses me off too, well not really him, just his die-hard fans.he is just like any other of us, he just takes most of his ideas of others, and calls it his own.

    But yes thanks AJ

    Cheers,

I agree about that with ice. He isn't that special, he just has a lot of money. He's only done 1 or 2 original mods.

Anyway, i do like the color scheme, its just a little sloppy. Where could i get my hands on the special 13mm aluminum?

    Goodonya - Jacob.

Well if you want to buy some, you would have to buy it with my foam, because it is a heavenly fit. Do you want a sample video of the fit? My foam it a little thicker than normal so this stuff is just awesome. But its as expensive as brass, that that"s a downer(little cheaper) If you want some foam and/or pipe PM me and ill make an official thread. and go bulk up in both.

    Cheers,
    Nick

yeh each to his own i guess , like the paint job ,it could be better BUT as for a concept all you can do is improve , not such a fan of the scope , would rather the LS scope but not bad a for a scratch build , but i still like the colour scheme , are you repainting the gun ? , stencils maybe?

ahahaha I would say exactly what I said before... noobcake

I would just say that if you're under 16 on this forum I do not give a flying fuck what you think lol

srsly.. all you 13 yr olds going around acting like your opinion matters..and making theads about fucking everything.... christ.

saying a paintjob is camo is no excuse for sloppy brushwork, of course there will be a random element to the paintjob, but the parts I say could be improved are getting crisp lines and perfect separation where the camo meets the other parts of the guns, ie the red and the black in this guns case.

GW is not the be all and end all of paint, I'd agree.. but the viscosity, coverage and durability of it do make it ideal for a nerf gun application, much more so than enamel. I just believe you should basecoat in vinyl die and that way more sanding should be done than most people talk about..

thanks for taking the (hopefully) constructive criticism maturely, you get rep for that

yet again I'll add to my reputation as the grouch of the forum lol..
