I placed a further two o-rings in my Nitefinder, one from a Recon, another from a Raider. From your experiences, is that o-ring overload, thus causing excess friction?

Have you added lubricant? Cause when I add one O-ring and a ton of sillicone grease, it's still reaaally tight. I'd stick to adding one, but I may be wrong - I'm new as you can probably tell.

A NF and a raider o-ring wont be an o-ring overload.
Many people tend to use 2 NF o-rings, as they fit nicely.

But please post this in the Questions thread next time.

And CaptainSurprise, can you please update your profile with an avatar. Thank you
