This particular one has 8 different possible leak points. So far they have all been epoxied but 2 are still leaking a little.
Once they are fixed I'm thinking another will just start as I am able to get higher pressure. Hopefully there is a more reliable way.

What type of epoxy are you using?

I would be using 3 day Epoxy and maybe some cable Ties.

    @Clunk07 try a place call http://www.purplepig.com.au for quick-release push-on female fittings.

    Thanks Cam,

I'll look in to that. Admittedly, I've never had much luck using 3-day adhesive with vinyl tubing and brass fittings.

The Questions Thread. Empty Longshot AR

Post  ngengerous Fri Aug 26, 2011 8:11 am

Hi. I'm a noob. So I was wondering about AR removal. I own a Longshot and the range is rubbish. I was wondering, If I took out the AR would that help much? I don't want to do any serious mods yet, my mum doesn't want me to ruin it, like i did to my last blaster . So if it will make much of a difference, how would I do it, if possible to do it to the front and main blasters, and how hard is it?

    Thanks, Ngengerous

Well, I have a longshot as well, basic ar removal and just a new NF spring and a Reflex spring. At first for a while I just had the AR removed. To be honest it has hardly any difference, until the new springs are added. But bare in mind, because you don't want to break your gun, if you add any springs, make sure you reinforce it.

Rocafix: I myself have no experience, but over at SgNerf the modded longshot they have goes 70 ft, with a 14kg spring. So with 16kg, I'd be having a gamble of maybe 75-80 ft flat?

I just bought a bbbb and I think the pumps busted, after about 4 pumps it stops delivering air and just makes a squeaking sound, it shoots the missle 3 meters tops, anyone else have/had that issue? I also don't have the tools to open it now, so yeah

The squeeking is the OPV and its supposed to be there so you don't break your gun. if you don't want this to happen open it up and on the pump there should be a little hole, if you plug this with hotglue you can pump more times.

You should be getting around 30 - 35 feet from stock condition. I can't remember exactly, and all mine have been couplered to fire darts, so I can't check.

Either way, you should be getting more than 8 feet...

    Cheers,

I can only get 3 pumps before it stops and starts making some odd sound and no more air is put into the tank, I can't really get an exact description of the sound but squeaky wasn't the best word, sounds more like 'hallowness'. On the forth pump, I have to apply a lot of pressure to be able to pump it and it just makes that sound and creates no air. Any theories?

Unless you are going to use the missles as some kind of special ammo, I'd ditch them and glue a 20mm upvc coupler directly onto the end of the air output, then start using darts. Darts should get around 150ft without a plugged pump.

Actually Spring upgrade is the simplest and the safest leaving the ar's in because that's what i did to mine and i'm getting 70-80ft flat.

If you wan't safety, pad the plunger, remove dead space, and use padded/silitip darts.
and maybe give it a brass breach.

So if I want the mod least likely to break it, padding and springs are the way to go? I did the AR this afternoon, and that helps a little.

Replacing the spring has probably the most potential for breaking during use of the blaster, but has probably the lowest chance of breaking during the mod. Unless you go crazy and screw the backplate on the plunger too tight.

If you replace the spring, you'll need to pad the plunger head, reinforce the boltsled, replace the catch spring (and I'd also suggest reinforcing the plunger head to rod join with some epoxy adhesive).

If you haven't done much modding, you'd be better off getting a bit more practice with a NF first. Fairly cheap, and supposedly fail-proof to mod.
