    Longshot/Stampede/Longstrike Mod Q's Empty Longshot/Stampede/Longstrike Mod Q's

    Post  monk1junk1 Mon May 28, 2012 1:30 pm

    Hey there,
I haven't posted in a while, but still, I have some questions now. I have recently bought a Stampede, I have had a Longshot for ages and my sister has just bought a longstrike. I'm just going to dive right into the questions, but before you start to flame; I have searched for the answers for most of these, but there will be some I have not that I just tagged in.

    Longshot:

Ok, so I have had this apart for about two weeks now. Basic mods are done and have been for about half a year but recently I have been looking into brass breeching it, paint jobs and replacing the spring. I have done quite a bit of research in regards to this blaster, but I can't find many reviews etc. about their springs.

    - C836 or OMW spring? If OMW spring, 5kg or 10kg? (I assume you will say 10kg, but just checking.)

    - Can anyone tell me the compression on the C836? I can't find it. Doesn't mean it's not there, I must just suck at google.

    - This coming weekend I will be reinforcing the bolt sled using 1/2mm aluminium. Should I use a stronger metal? Pointers?

    - any recommendations for the brass breech? I.E where to buy the brass from or if to buy a pre-made kit.

    Stampede:

I love it, but as the majority of you will know the stock version is not exactly heavy, but weighted predominantly to the rear. I also plan to BB this.

    - What batteries should I use? I know brands such as trust fire etc. are reccommended but I have honestly lost myself in this topic and need some sort of reset button. So, plain and simple: What batteries should I use? (I'm aiming for a voltage of anywhere between 12-16V).

    - I have heard instances of Li-ion an LIPO batteries 'sploding. True or false?

    - Once again, any tips on the BB?

    Longstrike:

So This is basically a long recon. It may not shoot far (my sister's hits stock 30ft MAX) but it's cool in my opinion and deserves better internals. Sorry in advance as I have done hardly research on this gun as I seriously didn't expect to ever posses one.

    - Should I BB it?

    - Spring recommendations?

    - Any other mods anyone recommends? (other than gutting it and turning it into an air gun, air guns are illegal in most matches around here)

If for some reason you want pictures, give me a yell and I won't hesitate to edit them in.

    Thanks for your help,

    - Dan

Lets see what I can do for you here.

LongShot: C836...NO!!!!. Black Tactical and Oznerfnerd have 11.5 (?) and 14kg springs that work just beatuifly for the LS. The ONN 14kg runout spring is cheap but bloody good if he is still trying to shift them.
The bolt sled reo I can't really help with. ONN has laser cut plates for it for $7(?) but I used steel for mine. Be sure to rough up and clean all glued faces and use 3 day epoxy.
Brass: Hobby shops or a few members do runs of premade breeches now and then.

Stampede: Batterys. I use a 12v SLA in both my 'pedes and my Vulcan. Simple and effective. Can't help with trustfires/lipos as I have no experiance there.
Brass Breech. Possible but difficult. Oxy, Littlebro and myself are at past and present still developing aussie matterial breeches for the 'pede. Check out SGnerf for a look at what the lucky mob over in Singapore get.

LongStrike: Don't bother with a brass breech. Alot of money for 5-10ft extra range.
My recomendation as this is what I am doing to mine at the moment. Gut it, make big springer internals, make them fit in shell. Think along the lines of SNAP/ +bow in a LSk shell

    Hope this helps you

Wow, I really didn't expect a reply so quickly!

For the Longshot I will probably look into ONN's 14kg spring as you suggested and in regards to the reinforcement, I've been looking at littlebro's tutorial so I feel pretty safe with that. I may or may not use steel depending on my budget.

I will most likely get one of those 12v SLA's from jaycar for my 'pede. I actually got the inspiration to do a BB from SGnerf, so SG has already been a big help.

Possible but difficult. Oxy, Littlebro and myself are at past and present still developing aussie matterial breeches for the 'pede.
/\/\/\ Here are you saying you and littlebro are experimenting with aussie made breeches or selling them? I just need to clarify, It's not too late but i've been up since quarter past five
If you are selling them, depending on how I go sourcing material for the breech's, I may buy one. No promises though :D.

Longstrike will probably either stay stock or, if I ever get around to it, will have an OMW massacre kit stuffed in it.

Thanks for your help, you've been a great hand.

The other thing is. If you're asking this many questions. I think you should really start with the basics on modifying these blasters as well. The basics is fundamental for future advanced mods (i.e. the brass breech).

I'm not going to be selling any of my breeches. It will be completely up to you to recreate what I've done. I'm still working on a few tweaks on my stampede but I can say that it will shoot approximately 30-40metres (flat to angled) with just a 6kg spring. So I'm going to be experimenting with 11kg Servulus spring to see what I can get out of the stampede.

Also the materials are all Aussie and hopefully fire streamline length darts (I'm just working on it at the moment). I'd provide a sneak peak but I'm abit of an OCD when it comes to showing the final product. That being it has to be perfect without any faults. So stay tuned. There will be a write-up on it in the next week or so.

Aside from scratch building, I have done most of the basic mods up until the Brass Breech. The only things that have been limiting me have been time and access to resources. Doing a BB has been a long term goal of mine and I feel that I'm up to it.

That's fine by me if you're not selling any BB's as I'm really looking forward to building one. WOW! What kind of tweaks are you doing to get those kinds of ranges on a 6kg spring? That reminds me, another thing to put on my to-do list, Upgrade the stampede spring! Can't believe I left that out! Oh well, I have had it less than 24 hours :).

Ok, I'm looking forward to this! I don't want to rush you on your build at all, but I can't wait to read this. From about Saturday onwards I'm going to be religiously checking the forums :D. I'd love to do a really big chop up of the Stampede, i.e; Full on mod it and minimise it, but although I would love multiple 'pedes I can't afford to buy more than one. Well, actually I can afford it, I just feel that the money is better spent elsewhere. It may be considered If they get sub $40 in the mid year toy sales. *Evil Laugh*

    Thanks,
    -Dan

P.S; If it looks like I'm spam posting, I honestly don't care about my post count I only want to give everyone (So far two people, lol) that posts in my thread at least some recognition of my appreciation.
