WTB Bronze Stampede Gears Empty WTB Bronze Stampede Gears

    Post  T da B Thu Dec 27, 2012 1:26 am

    Hi everyone,

I'm an American that has scoured the Earth far and wide for replacement gears for the Stampede. At last, I have found them here in Australia! They are made by a fellow by the name of ptR. Unfortunately, ptR is not responding to my PMs. If anybody has the gears and would like to make some money, please let me know.

    Regards,

WTB Bronze Stampede Gears Empty Gears have been found!

    Post  T da B Thu Mar 21, 2013 8:02 pm

There is a thread open on Nerfhaven right now for people that want PAK D upgrade parts that aren't available through Remedy Metals. Stampede gears and Stress Kits are a couple of the items that you can't get through Remedy Metals in the USA. PM me on Nefhaven if you are interested in getting in on the bulk order (cheaper shipping).

    cheers,

thanks for your help, but the price for shipping to here is $36.
would only pay a similar price if they were metal.

    thank you.

They are metal (adonized CNC'd aluminium). Sorry to be abrupt, but check the site that he linked. Bronze gears were about $35 plus shipping when they were being handled by BattleGears, but that fell through and nobody heard from them after. Get a bulk order with someone nearby to split shipping from Pak D, it's your best bet. Don't forget the SG dollar is less than the AUD.

Nice work mate, well handled!! The PakD gears are meant to be rather impressive... I'm just holding off for the release of their spring kits.

I have a set of the Pak gears here sitting on my desk, but what I think he really should have done was not just copy the gears but to reduce the gear ratio. They are a nice set though.

    hi guys,

correct me if im wrong, if you just purchase the Gear set on its own it will cost $74.44 aus plus shipping.
did i work this out right?

if so is it really worth it? any feedback on the differences?
    any would be appreciated.

I haven't paid for mine yet, but I've pre-ordered, and am waiting on final testing of the springs. A substantial discount for pre-ordering was included, so it's a bit hard to comment on price.

From memory though, the gears alone were $60 SGD + $9 SGD for shipping.

$69 SGD = $53.20 AUD. Yeh, it's a bit pricey, but if you want to bulletproof a stampede with heavy spring load, it's the only way to go.

    clunk07,

    thanks for your input,
I really want to boost my stampede to the next level,
i believe it might be the only way.

I'm just hoping someone else might have found a place that stocks metal gears in Australia lol.

There's a lot of money involved in getting gears cut. Especially if they're short runs and useful only to nerf. Not many people can do it simply because of that. I've spent hours and hours trying to find alternatives of either DIY or short-run jobs with CNC machinists shops. Not worth it. This is by far the cheapest option, trust me.

    much appreciated fellas,
i have also tried to work out an alternative.
I might just hack the price and get a metal set of gears.
it will save me a lot of time i guess.

It's probably your best option. If you had of got in a bit earlier, the price would've been 50% off. I'd just double check the website and see if they're still taking pre-orders, which should give you a significant discount.

At the end of the day, Stampede's will always be limited by their poor breech design. I've seen working models of brass breeches that take shortened darts, but still yet to see a 100% operational prototype here in Australia that utilises full-length darts.

    Hi Servulus,

How long did the order process take with Pak designs. I ordered a set of gears last week and have heard nothing from them since.

2, 3 weeks, dont really know, but alot better than the stainless steel RM LS kit, that was a few months (but the guy has been overwhelmed by the interest and purchases of them and he makes them by hand). But a week, is too little time for buying from overseas, i always allow for 6 weeks minimum.

As a point of reference, I preordered some gears during the preorder period, got the invoice, wanted to update my order with a couple of things, and have been lost in the process. Still waiting on resolution there. Be patient, I think the guys are overwhelmed (as serv said can be the case with this stuff).

Cheers Fellas, was a bit worried that the order wasn't even processed but it seems that is the norm.

It seems from the PAK facebook page others are having issues as well. Poor guys, must be hard with start-ups to get all their processes down pat.
