What does adding elastic bands on the NF do?

A bad job of increasing range.
Replace the spring, don't add bands.
I've found they tend to add stress in places you don't want any stress.

Like spring stretching, they give short term power gain.
Don't bother, its far easier to just upgrade the spring.

This is more of an opinion thing, but whatever:
Do you think that there is any colour you can paint a gun that means it doesn't look like a real weapon? Other than the obvious yellow/orange

Hot pink?
I suspect a lot of fluro colours would probably fit the bill.

Red.
Something that still looks awesome, but is not a realistic weapon colour. Bright Gold could also work.
Yes, COD noobs, people don't use red camo IRL. Or gold.

Generally, don't use colours that exist naturally in bulk, on any terranean environments and grey metallic colours.
Weapons training aids are usually blue or red.

You could probably answer your own question if you checked out the modification directory, or even the search button.

Reminds me of a certain blue and red rem870 which most certainly is not for training purposes...

Re: The Questions Thread.
Hello all,
Fairly new here to Nerf but already have a small collection.
Reading up on how to mod the stampede, I am doing the voltage mod on the stampede.
I got the Blue Ultrafire14500 Batteries and the 4x AA Battery Tray.
However I'm having trouble slotting in the 14500 batteries, as they are slightly (about 1mm longer) than the standard AA batteries.
Anyone else have this trouble? Or did I purchase the wrong battery tray?

I think you bought the protected version. You need they unprotected version, these are grey.

Without a picture, I would possibly guess that the 14500's may be protected, which makes them a little longer than normal.
If they're definitely unprotected 14500's, just apply a little bit of force, and they should fit fine. I know that all of my rig's have been a rather snug fit in the battery tray.
I could offer more help with a picture though...
@ElementGuy - I have pcb 14500's in both grey and blue, and in UltraFire and TrustFire brands. Likewise with non-pcb's. The colour doesn't tend to be a good indication. But, if you peel off a bit of the plastic wrapping, you'll notice a copper strip and a small circuit board on the PCB versions.

Yep, I can see that, thanks for pointing that out mate.
But, common sense prevails that a picture of the actual products side-by-side will be better than some random picture from ebay. Especially from a seller who calls 14500 batteries "AA", and doesn't state whether they're protected or not...

Thought of the same question a while back, but apparently the equivalent was um .. PVC cement ?

Re: The Questions Thread.
Yeah, I asked a while ago but I'm still not satisfied with the answer especially since no one seems to have tried it.
But to be honest I don't believe PVC cement will work with nerf guns. Goop is clear and sticky while PVC cement is blue (Or other colours) and runny.
EDIT: http://shop.ebay.com.au/i.html?LH_AvailTo=15&_nkw=Amazing+Goop&_arm=1&_armm=63&_ruu=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com.au%2Fi.html%3F_nkw%3DAmazing%2BGoop%26_arr%3D1&_rdc=1

Re: The Questions Thread.
@Fish - your battery appears to be the protected version of 14500 li-ion batteries. They won't discharge enough power (due to the pcb) to be of any use with Nerf applications. That extra length, and the rather prominent nipple, is generally a good indication of the protection circuit.
The "14500" is actually product dimensions. 14 refers to the width, while 500 refers to the length. This makes them identical to a AA battery in size.
Your best bet would be to either check out ebay, or dealextreme.com for non-pcb li-ion 14500 batteries.
@Unknown - I thought myself and Brad had covered your question quite well. PVC cement isn't the same as goop, but it is suitable for certain Nerf applications. I use it all the time with conduit and pvc, but I'm fairly certain it will eat normal nerf blaster plastic's.
I checked out that exact same goop on ebay, but the p&h charges were a bit ridiculous at that time.
Cheers,

Sorry mate, that wasn't supposed to be taken as an insult to either of you.
By unsatisfied I meant I was still looking for a suitable product in Australian stores.
And yeah, postage is pretty ridiculous, but I haven't been able to find any other suitable glue although I am testing various silicone glues.

If there's a chance of getting discount on shipping with multiple items, I'd be keen on getting a tube to try. Might work out well seeing you, me and oxy are both in Qld. Maybe we might get a few more guys interested perhaps...
