clunk07 wrote:Just my opinion - but you may want to look at using a smaller and cheaper air tank for the front gun. At best, you'll hit maybe 170ft out of a Brassed LS with a minimal angle. Singled Titans will hit an extra 100 ft on that range.
Even with a BBUMB tank or similar, and a shotgun attachment, you'll get a pretty decent range and spread, and save yourself quite a few dollars in the process.
Anyway, like I said, just my opinion.

Indeed, if you wanted something like an integrated LSFG with an air tank. the BBUMB would be the way togo, or try the shotblast like I did

You'd be lucky to find a hand-pump capable of reaching even 80 psi, that would be small enough to put on a blaster.
Don't quote me, but I think most quality ball pumps hit around 60 psi...
@phuong - is your compressor Titan the one with the 10 metre barrel... haha

I run my bmx tyres at around 100psi, ball pumps won't come close. They do about 45-60, depending on quality. Bike pumps, the big ones you stand on, they'll doo 100psi easy as pie. Big and ridiculous, though. Not small enough, like you said Clunk.

I used to design and manufacture bmx/mtb componentry and i remember using the CO2 pumps, never had a problem getting my ramp tires to 120psi (pumps at service stations used to struggle though). LOL

Yeah man, I know the good service stations to go to, lol. I've been to ones that could barely hit fifty before. Also been to ones that hit 110, which I used to run, so fast that i have no doubt it'd do 180-200, hahaa.

Nah, that was only 2 metres. I normally use a 2ft long barrel - gotta love couplers.

haha - it looked alot longer than that!!
I've not used bought coupler's yet. Got a pretty good system utilising 25mm conduit as the coupler, and nesting petg inside 20mm conduit for the barrel. It helps that I've got about 8 full lengths of both sizes of conduit lying around.
Cheers,

Nathan we never thought of this, I have to agree though. Using a BBUMB tank over a Titan is probably a better idea, as a Unity Power System costs $70 and a BBUMB costs $25-$30.
A BBUMB tank will fit in a lot better aswell.

Re: The Questions Thread.
Ok maverick issue, I recently painted my Mav and its looking pretty swish, however, I think there's a rotation mech issue. Every time I fire the gun, either the dart doesn't fire, only comes halfway out or fires decently. At the moment about 4 of the 6 shots seem to leave the gun. As I said before, I'm pretty sure the issue lies with the rotational mech and after looking at some internal pics, there's no issues with parts not in the right place.
TL;DR: My maverick isn't working.
Any suggestions on how to fix it?

If all the internals are in their proper place/alignment, then you may want to consider gluing the clutch etc together. It's not the best fix, but it will work.

Did you do any modifications regarding the turret, rotation mech or the plunger? That is, besides painting
I'm currently in the midst of modding my friend's mav, and yeah plenty of seal/rotation problems there, the problems seem to be connected one way or another.

Use those 4mm irrigation barbs from bunnings and you can get the 4mm vinyl tubing fr Clarkes rubber.oxymoron wrote:Anyone know where I can get 4mm ID clear vinyl tubing and barbed fittings? Bunnings only had the black 4mm stuff and clear 3 and 5mm.
To make the vinyl tubing fit on the barbs easier, soak the end of the tubing in some hot water for a few seconds and this will allow you to easily slip the tubing on.

I was in clarkes rubber today looking for these items myself.
4mm id tubing was about 2.99 a metre if i remember correctly.
If you have a flower power shop close by they also sell the barbs. I bought a few joiners and t connecters for 68c to 99c each.

Re: The Questions Thread.
Did you get any paint between the shell closest to the trigger and the rotating turret? If so you should probably sand it back as it won't be getting a good seal because it has too much friction to rotate all the way.Bacara wrote:Ok maverick issue, I recently painted my Mav and its looking pretty swish, however, I think there's a rotation mech issue. Scroll Saw is a Small Blade with an up/Down motion
Band Saw is as it name suggest a Blade that is one Big band that moves in a loop fashion

Re: The Questions Thread.
Owning both, it depends on what you want to do. I prefer the bandsaw for roughing out stuff (although you can do some pretty good finishing cuts on one if you know what you're doing) while scroll saws are generally for finer work. Since a scroll saw blade is open ended, you can detach one end, put it through a hole, reattach it and make internal cuts. A bandsaw blade is, as Arkham pointed out, one big loop so you evidently can't do this on a bandsaw.
Both can handle plastics, just make sure you choose the right blade type. Bandsaws are generally more powerful and can handle huge blocks of material (I've gone through 125 mm dia Al rods with mine), while scroll saws are more for sheet/plate.
Oh, before I forget... replacing bandsaw blades is not a fun job.

Depends on what you're cutting mate. I couldn't really imagine cutting thin acrylic/poly with a jigsaw being much fun.
They tend to vibrate alot, due to the pendulum action.

Would agree with Clunk on this, I wouldn't want to do it. Then again I'm spoilt for choice in that area. How accurate and straight do you want those cuts to be?
If you're dead set on it, then my recommendation would be to find a table or something with a slot in it, line up the cut with the slot and clamp the workpiece close to the cut on both sides, 4/6 clamps if you've got the space. If you only clamp one side to the edge of a table or clamp it incorrectly you'll see the free side vibrate as Clunk described.

Re: The Questions Thread.
I'm hoping to get a scroll saw in the future as recommended by multiple sources, to make simple home made guns like the 2-11.
I was really looking at a cheaper alternative until then. I'm lucky as I actually have a rig similar to the one you've described that I use for drilling, cutting, ect.

Re: The Questions Thread.
Not that I'd recommend doing this, but I have seen a couple of people make up a jig to bolt down on to a bench. The jig holds the jigsaw upside down, and you can use it like a scroll saw.
Really only for the adventurous/highly experienced users though, as there are a number of issues which all result in the removal of fingers etc...
Plus, I'm fairly certain you wouldn't get nice straight cuts either.
You could clamp your material to a bench, and use the back edge of a piece of angle iron as a guide for straight/90 degree cuts, and just use a diamond blade on a grinder. Not sure how effective it would be though...
Cheers,

Does leaving clips loaded for long periods of time damage either them or the darts?

That's what I though, Compression don't really like being compressed for too long... but how long is too long? ie. if i loaded them the night before a war?
Could it also effect the darts? Crush them? Change their shape?
