Over night is okay, but I think upto a month is not so good. And I am pretty sure it will effect the top dart as it gets squished by compression.Pronga wrote:TooBz wrote:It will effect the clips by keeping the spring compressed for a long time.Pronga wrote:Guessing I know the answer to this one, but will ask anyway for confirmation.
Does leaving clips loaded for long periods of time damage either them or the darts?
That's what I though, Compression don't really like being compressed for too long... but how long is too long? ie. if i loaded them the night before a war?
Could it also effect the darts? Crush them? Change their shape?

The top dart will be embossed by the lip of the magazine. However, once taken out, it will slowly recover its original shape.TooBz wrote:Over night is okay, but I think upto a month is not so good. Some of my darts have been in there fully loaded for more than 6 months.
I don't consider it detrimental to the springs by standard usage.
No jams in the Alpha Trooper on slamfire (6-round clips and 18-round drums).
Prolonged loaded magazines may be an issue for real firearms, as the spring needs to maintain enough force to push the heavier catridges upwards, and be snappy enough to avoid jams in firearms with a quick rate of fire.
Nonetheless, if your intention is to preserve the lifespan of your stuff, it is best to minimise the time in which the springs are loaded.

Re: The Questions Thread.
Anyone own ryobi branded scroll saw and/or bandsaw?
If so, could you give me your honest opinion of how well they perform. I generally use Makita, but seeing as they're both machines I won't use a great deal, I'd prefer to shell out a bit less coin and buy a cheaper brand.
Cheers,

I have both... hahaha
They are good. The scrollsaw is a win and havent had any problems with it.
I also have the 150mm bandsaw, but I find it a bit too small, so id suggest getting the 210mm

Thanks for that Brad, I hadn't seen the 210mm bandsaw, so I'm glad you let me know about it.
I'll have to get to Bunning's soon, and check them out.

How come people buy hornet/titan/etc pumps when a $3 bike pump would work just as well?

Because it looks cleaner? I have no idea.. It's probably if one needs a replacement pump for something and doesn't want to butcher their gun up.mister_elliott wrote:How come people buy hornet/titan/etc pumps when a $3 bike pump would work just as well?

Re: The Questions Thread.
Yeh, I can understand wanting a stock pump to replace a broken one to retain that stock-look.
But, for a replacement, you can't go past the dual-action bike pumps from KMart/BigW etc. I'm currently using Repco Sport branded pumps - they're small, cheap and effective. I also notice that gooni uses them as well.

My browser is experiencing some difficulties, and I'm having trouble accessing google.
Can anyone tell me which metal is stronger on the rockwell scale:
Brass or standard aluminium. I'm pretty sure it's the alu, but can't remember for sure.

Cheers mate, well that makes life harder then... lol
Oh well, back to the drawing board. I was looking at using old aluminium arrow shafts to reinforce the PAS plunger rod. Guess I'll have to find some smaller brass tubing.

What are you working on? If your browser isn't working too well just install a different one, E.G Google Chrome or Firefox
Anyway,
I have had my breached titan for about a week, it's working fine and all, but could work better. As I am using Copper (for the breach) and stainless steel for the barrel, the seal doesn't work by just pushing it in, as it does with plastics such as conduit.
Anyway, I am using electrical tape wrapped around the barrel, which plugs into the start of the breach. This isn't a 100% seal. Is there anything I can use which isn't E-tape?
I am thinking of using an O-ring by placing it at the start of the barrel in one of the corrugations I have made in it.
Any suggestion helps, thanks

Maybe look at trying some heat-shrink, instead of the e-tape.

Mine seems to suggest that it's only by a little bit. They're both commonly available in variable alloys so there is disagreement between sources.

And they're only $7 now.
There is the old red and black pump for $15 and a new blue one (still repco branded) for $7.
Both pumps are the same as far as i can tell.
I only know of big w having the blue ones though.

Re: The Questions Thread.
Before, I asked about my Maverick having firing issues. I discovered the problem myself, all that's needed is for the turret to be taken apart and lubed. I also glued the slip-clutch so I don't know if that helped it as well. Thanks for the help everyone! It now gets 40-50 feet on average.
TL;DR, If your Maverick is misfiring, lube up all the moving pieces in the turret.

I replaced my spring for the nitefinder with the c-836 spring from bunnings and i cut about 2 rings? off it. It reduces range rather than increases it.
What is the problem here?
What can i do to fix it?

When you mean misfiring, is it the turret not moving properly?

How's the plunger seal? Did you change o-rings? Check if the seal is too tight or too loose. Try and lube it up and improve the seal because you have a stronger spring now.

@Red, this was what I was talking about. And yes, it seemed the turret wasn't rotating smoothly. Nothing a bit of grease can't fix!Bacara wrote:Ok maverick issue, I recently painted my Mav and its looking pretty swish, however, I think there's a rotation mech issue. Every time I fire the gun, either the dart doesn't fire, only comes halfway out or fires decently. At the moment about 4 of the 6 shots seem to leave the gun. As I said before, I'm pretty sure the issue lies with the rotational mech and after looking at some internal pics, there's no issues with parts not in the right place.

It would be something like the plunger seal, not giving a 100% seal.
Where about's from Adelaide are you from?

But, not really. Outside the Barricade there are alot of non-nerf ones (some very old, and most just plain rare) that prime on trigger pull as well as fire, but have the worst range imaginable.
MY QUESTION:
Does 16mm conduit fit nicely in 15mm PVC?
I'm considering re-coupling my BBB in 15mm, and was wondering if it were still "compatible" with my choice barrel material.

Re: The Questions Thread.
I mentioned magstrike so people dont mention it because im not after that sort of blaster.
And i also didnt say just nerf, i said any.
Do you have any Suggestions?
Yes 16mm Conduit does fit in 15mm PVC, you'll just need to e-tape around it.

16mm conduit fits nicely if you put etape on the conduit to make it nice and snug.
My question:
Can you please make a writeup of your BBB on how to make it shoot 50m+?

Re: The Questions Thread.
A mate of mine was going through his toybox he had as a kid, and found one. It had six barrels, that auto rotated and primed on trigger pull, and the trigger took up the entire hand grip. Give me two secs, I'll find a pic and hopefully a link for you... GOT IT:
EDIT: Added a pic of the semi-auto blaster. Claims 20-30ft ranges, prime on trigger pull. Made in 1994 by Just Toys America. Had a link to a thread on NerfHaven discussing this blaster, but lost it. SUPER rare, can't find it anywhere.
Possibly, I'll need a new BBB to play with though. I'll get back to you on that16mm conduit fits nicely if you put etape on the conduit to make it nice and snug.

Thanks mate
I've gotten one but after looking at the internals i'm kind of stumped on how to get huge ranges.
Also with yours, did you open the back half of the blaster?
Edit: If i'm correct, that looks like an arrow storm.

Re: The Questions Thread.
Well, the darts slide over the pegs on this blaster (for some reason), but this thing here is no larger than a Barricade. It was a great find on behalf of my mate.
But yeah, I opened up the back. If I could give one tip, epoxy putty EVERYTHING. Also, the stock catch spring, assuming you've puttied up the catch, holds nicely. Puttying up the catch does two things: Strengthens it of course, and makes it line up correctly. Stock BBB's have a problem with the catch not sitting properly at an angle. Not good if you plan on putting more springs in. The only reason it hold in stock form is due to the utterly huge catch spring.

I was literally there for an hour trying to wedge it open with a flat head screwdriver. Resulted in some minor cosmentic damage, but, it came apart eventually. Rather than levering the shell open, you need to slide the flat head into the seam, using very light taps with a hammer. VERY light

Quick blast 10 comes to mind. But I'm not sure, I lost the only link where this blaster has been discussed.
My friend's is a variation of this, and only has six barrels. Same mech though.
All I know is that it was produced by Just Toys, NY. It's from 1994.
