So
So if I just keep using my longshot without opening it and the range dosen't drop then the o-ring should be fine right?

Yep, when you notice the range dropping, or feel some interference in the plunger when priming the blaster, you'll know that something's gone wrong.

Ok However
Ok but what exactly would the 'interferance' feel like, would it be restricting me to pring the gun or whatever?

If it happens, you'll know.
No point in being paranoid, it's just an O-ring.

Re: The Questions Thread.
Hmmm... another slightly odd question.
When I attended an HvZ game about two months ago (the one in Bayswater), someone was repeatedly saying that any form of modification to a Nerf gun made it completely illegal to own (he claimed that it rendered it a Category H Firearm), as did any form of paintjob (although that rendered it a different class of weapon).
Is there any truth to this? It was extroadinarily annoying for all of us, and I'd like to know whether I would be allowed to use one (or two ) of Clunk's Stampedes in an HvZ game.

You would as long as it doesn't resemble a real firearm paint scheme.

Re: The Questions Thread.
I'd say it's far more of a grey area. Air rifles require licencing just like a firearm, toy blaster obviously don't. The problem becomes, at which point does a toy become an air rifle? A singled titan could kill someone given the right ammunition and some home mades are stupidly powerful.
It seems really silly but because it's horribly defined, it's really hard to legislate. You'd have to do something really stupid to get a cop pissed off enough to want to go you for a modified toy blaster, but I foresee a really bad time in fighting it once it had been started. Say, hurting a passer-by with a heavily weighted dart from a singled titan...
Morale of the story is, a surprising number of things are illegal if you follow the letter of the law and grey areas suck, but provided you don't do anything stupid you should be fine.

Re: The Questions Thread.
Well, all I'm going to be using is an unpainted Stampede modified to shoot 20-25 metres (I think) with Streamlines (since HvZ games don't allow Stefans), so it shouldn't hurt too much on impact. Hardly a singled Titan.
As for paintjobs, well, I don't think that Clunk's would qualify as realistic.
Although with regards to power... would a Brassed LS firing Streamlines be excessive and illegal? A friend of mine is considering purchasing one from Clunk for use as a long-range support weapon in HvZ.

It sounds exactly like the same bloke I met at an anime convention last month.Reaper wrote:When I attended an HvZ game about two months ago (the one in Bayswater), someone was repeatedly saying that any form of modification to a Nerf gun made it completely illegal to own (he claimed that it rendered it a Category H Firearm), as did any form of paintjob (although that rendered it a different class of weapon).
He didn't give me a reference to where he got the news from, even though I asked him a few times, but he did say that the law would be enforced in 2 years.
This is somewhat strange, as I would expect that if a bill has passed, then it would be acted on somewhat faster than that.
Otherwise, if it were to be a governmental discussion topic instead, then everything is just hearsay at this point.
To stay on the safe side, the police look at these 3 things when it comes to determining a toy firearm:
- Shape and size
- Colour
- Material
Concept is pretty simple. Does it look like a gun to an average (pretty dumb) person?

on the practical side of things streamlines would just fishtail like a lunatic.

Kinetic Waffle uses one of my Stampede's in HVZ, but I think it's at his University, so not exactly in public view.
If you choose light/fluoro colours for your paint scheme, I can't really see it being an issue.

Aahk. Well, no sniping for him, then... no matter. He'll just try to kill me, the usual
Thanks for the help. The guy was honestly a real annoyance at the time... hopefully he won't be there next time. Or, alternately, I'll just say 'screw you' and keep playing.

Longshot
Hey guys I wanted to adress this question to..
clunk
Unknown
Littlebro
I used a C-836 in my longshot and I wondered, it's a little short and has no pre compression, however it's still quite powerful so do I still need to epoxy the plunger head to plunger rod?
I already reinforced the bolt-sled with hanger will this hold?
Also can anyone figure out how many kg's it is? Im just curious
Thanks

Get that thing out of your Longshot ASAP, unless you want a broken and useless blaster... Seriously.

Re: The Questions Thread.
It's not a good spring for your Longshot, it's too short and it's very powerful but there was also something else about it that attributed to it's lethality. (Sorry but I don't remember what it was)

Re: The Questions Thread.
Hey guys sorry to interrupt this discussion...
I recently upgraded the voltage on my stampede to 16.4v, and I started to have the bump-firing problem. I checked the return catch spring, and I've put a rubber band like UGF's thread said. It now works SOMETIMES, but the other times it just bump fires again.
Also, when I fire 6 darts, the first 3 are alright, the next one just drops and the next two are alright. Is there a possibility to fix this? I'll probably get a new spring in the near future, is that my solution?

If you've done the voltage upgrade, and retained the stock spring, then there's a pretty good chance that's the cause of all your problems.

If you can scratch the paint off easily, then your prep work and undercoat/primer probably isn't quite up to standard for good paint adhesion. You can try doing some more thin coats of clear. Just make sure to leave ample time for drying in between coats. My advice would be to do 1 thin coat every day, for 3-4 coats. Just remember that too much lacquer at the one time will stain white paint and turn it a very ugly yellow.
I'm assuming you've used acrylic paint, which is why you're using acrylic lacquer? From my experience, certain brands of acrylic paint can take up to 3 weeks to fully cure and harden.

Just a quick question- Can I use PETG for a NF barrel if I use infor3r's blue foam? eg. How's the barrel fit?

Yes. Generally a perfect fit, can be a tad loose at times.

I'd say don't use it because for an NF, because the optimum barrel fit would be tight. So i suggest using 17/32 brass or 16mm conduit (the right batch)

Re: The Questions Thread.
In my range tests I found that my 17/32 and PETG NF's got almost exactly the same range with the same mods. The difference was that the 17/32 barrel was much harder to load because it required a lot of twisting. My latest model features both brass and PETG, although I haven't seen a noticeable increase in range.

Re: The Questions Thread.
You either have a major problem, or your using Streamlines...
Many of the Brisbane guys who have met me at wars can confirm that PETG does work great in Nitefinders. In fact Pez7 and Wolf both have springer pistols moddified by me, with PETG. Both hit 70ft.

Re: The Questions Thread.
I agree with Melbnerf... could be the climate issue. I chucked my box of darts into the back of my car on a humid day, and my blue foam seemed noticeably fatter.
