Barrels and Dart to Barrel fit. Empty Barrels and Dart to Barrel fit.

Post  steadyon Fri Dec 18, 2009 12:28 pm

Ok, am I the only one here who walks around bunnings with darts in my pocket, pushing them into the end of any pipes I think might make good barrels? Am I Insane?

Also. I tried to fit a streamline into some hep20 LEAP at bunnings today, it was a very tight fit, but only just made it in with a lot of twisting. Does anyone use this barrel material with stock darts? Does the hep20 fit 12.7mm stefans better than stock streamlines?

Sorry for all the questions. Its just that I use 15mm pretty universally at the moment, and I think I could get better ranges with 12.7m foam.

Any answers anyone has to these queries, I'm all ears.

    Yes, you are insane! Jk

I use my own foam that I sold which was 13mm that fits perfectly and that steamlines fitted quite well to. I didn't need to twist the streamline in, mabey that piece of pipe you tested was a dud or something.

If your using 15mm foam, thats fits perfectly in Orange Electrical 15mm pipe. I may change to 15mm soon because I cant find any foam that fits well in hep20.

streamline diameter varies a truckload my NF barrel which i think is stainless steel fits them perfect but every so often one is a squeeze and doesn't get sucked down like it should. About foam material i think that informers new blue foam should because a regulation or something cause that way streamlines are not out of the picture if you want less accuracy.

I just bought a 4m length of the white electrical conduit to make a barrel for my NF, and found that my 15mm foam is just a little too loose to get good ranges. bugger. I think the orange conduit might have a slightly smaller Internal Diamter. At the moment my favourite barrel material is 15mm Poly Irrigation riser. It is a very tight fit for 15mm foam, and seems to work very well on the persuader.

If your looking for barrel material for stock darts, I sell the right size PETG for it. I still have at least 300-350ft left.

This suites my 12.7mm FBR with a tight fit, but sits nerf darts perfectly.

i reckon everyone should go stock dart diameter barrels to add uniformity then you wont have to worry about finding YOUR ammo when playing

Yes, and to great effect. Though fitting streamlines head first is a bitch to do with Hep2o. I use cut down coverted stock darts reinforced with a straw, which is perfect for Hep2o. I also use tagger and sonic darts in Hep2o, you do have to give a little bit of a twist to fit those in. Beaveling out the inner edge also helps with loading.

You could use 17/32 brass which is ever so slighty wider, and alot smoother. but a hell of alot more expensive. i'm talking $7 for a foot compared $7 for 2.5 meters of Hep2o.

If you're using FBR sightly too wide for that stuff, there is also Metal mate 16mm aluminium. Its too wide for stock darts, but 13mm FBR fits it well.

I used to use Aluminum, you buy it from Bunnings, usually nears the PVC section.

It is only really good for air powered guns, waaayyyy to loose for spring guns.

So is it a general rule then that air guns should have a looser dart to barrel fit, and spring guns a tighter one?

Yeh, pretty much. Although my BBBB fires pretty damn good with a tight barrel.

see I'm the same, getting really good results from the Persuader with a very very tight barrel.
that 15mm Poly riser is awesome, and softer than pvc conduit so rifling is easier.

Just one more question, does 12.7mm fbr fit in hep20 LEAP?
