maybe I should have expanded on the question...

Why? From what I've read they seem very similar, only a titan could be used for rockets in FFP. Is there some major advantage I'm not seeing in a 4B?

    4B
    Why?
-4B takes 4 pumps until the OVPR valve kicks in and gets near titan ranges. Also, much rarer and more comfortable

hi, i recently did this mod: http://www.oznerf.com/t2490-covers-everything-nitefinder-mod

I was expecting nice ranges but im getting hardly anything (like a drooping bullet that goes maybe 4m). I had a theory that maybe the coupler wasn't perfectly sealed onto the barrel but i've added a crazy ammount of hot glue and im sure theres no gaps now.

    I guess my question is:
Has anyone else done this mod and had problems?
AND have they fixed it and how?

I seriously have no idea what ive done wrong.

This may sound weird but blow into the front of the coupler and there should be minimal if no air passing through.
If there is, fix up the seal on the coupler and also check to see if there is enough teflon tape underneath the O-ring.
If the seal is good but the ranges are still bad, you can grease the O-ring with various lubricants.
If still getting bad ranges, Check the barrel material to be near airtight and a good length (5") and not loose on the dart at all.
    -James

EDIT: Also, if you have put the anti-skid pads in, make sure that it isn't touching the sides of the plunger tube.

i tried the blowing thing. It seems to just blow back in my face (which is good i think).
I added more lubricant, still seems really lackluster...
And i checked the anti skid pads, they aren't interfering with anything.

If youre 4B is a lever trigger, you won't need to reinforce it. Mine broke, lol.

Currently they go for $59 at stores so that's a pretty good deal.

$49 with the extra darts at Kmart, until 3rd August.

If your friend doesn't include the 100 darts, it's not really a good deal this week.

The only problem is that at my local kmart/targets are that they dont have the 100 dart pack ones and that they're selling the stampedes without the bonus darts for the prize of the advertised bonus dart stampede

Im using this plastic tubing stuff i found at bunnings. Its cheap and works ok with my bbumb.
However I am after brass for other things, but i have no idea where to find it.

Any adelaide nerfers know where to get 17/32' (or 13mm) brass piping?

How tight is the tubing on your dart?
E.g. Twist fit, tight, loose, barely able to push the dart in or what?
    Also, is that tubing bendy?

I use blue foam stefans, and i have to push it in.
I can blow through the tube to get darts out as well. It doesn't feel loose though...
Tubing is a little bit bendy. It stays fairly straight though.

That's your problem. You shouldn't be able to get the dart out of the tube by blowing in spring powered blasters. Find a tighter barrel fit that you can't blow out.

Really? I find my bbumb spits them out ok though? But i found a place that does the 17/32 brass anyway so i'll give that a shot.

Who knows? Maybe the bbumb ranges will increase with the brass...

As said heaps of times on the forum, loose fit is best with air guns and tight fit is optimal with springers. But the brass on the bbumb wont change the range too much.

Ah, 9/16 brass isn't a tight fit for blue foam in my climate, yet my LS hits 160 feet...

Maybe the tight fit is for RP springer's??

    Cheers,

Actually it's not really about the springer or airgun difference, i've heard somewhere it's actually about the velocity because airguns, longshots and quadshot all have quite a high amount of velocity, the dart fit doesn't need to be too tight but because NF's have a pretty small plunger tube and draw, it get much less velocity. Does that make sence?

I don't think it would be velocity, as that's a measure once the dart exits the barrel.

But, yeh, I get the general idea. Although, I've heard in a few different circles that the tight fit/springer and loose fit/air guns is a bit of an old myth. I don't use any other barrel material than petg and 9/16 brass. But I guess climate and dart material plays a big role.

    Cheers,

The Questions Thread. - Page 17 Empty Few qestions for a new bloke.

    Post  Daniel66 Sun Jul 31, 2011 3:33 pm

Just got a few questions, I have searched around but cant get a straight up answer.

    1. Im about to get a stampede and I currently have a recon, My issue is stock darts are not cheap and dont go to well. Am I better off looking into making my own darts or is buying stock darts for the clip systems the best? (i do have custom darts i brought off ebay but they only work im my nite finder)

    2. This might seem like i dumb question but what do i need for a nerf war? Also what do i need to be competive in it?

    3. If i wanted to get more clips or drumbs where would be the cheapest place to get these? was thinking ebay?

    Thanks guys,
    Daniel

    Hey,

If you would like some darts for your clips and drums I can make them, $19.50 for 100 or $9.75 for 50. Flat rate $5.00 for shipping.

Q2 - You don't know your game style until you go to a war. Just get a blaster and some eye-wear then rock up, you should be fine. Some like to run around a lot while some like to position themselves for a good hit. You won't know what till you try out

To remove the Alpha Trooper's air restrictor using the pipe cutter method, where do I need to cut?
    The Questions Thread. - Page 17 Atar10
Or is this a less safe method compared to the recon/raider?
