Yeah with 13kg springs becoming common place replacing the plunger parts seems to be the next logical step.

Re: Aluminium nerf parts
Might be 'cause I leave the end bit sharp so it wont slip off easily. I guess that sharp edge slowly chews away the plastic rod, might be worth smoothing it out.
I only have one more outstanding order then I'll get some more solid rod and make it up

Yeah the alu catch did that to my end nub. How would we go about smoothing it out?

Hello chris, I've already sent my address details to you for those spacers. Could you send me your bank details via e-mail so I can get this transaction sorted ASAP please?

I've always had great success using a wirebrush attachment on a (variable speed) drill to smooth out aluminium work... just a thought

Maybe a file would work a bit faster than sandpaper, just a light one, nothing too abrasive.

Re: Aluminium nerf parts
1. order any barrel spacer select COD for payment
2. dont pay yet
3. add details of exactly what you want made into the comments section
4. I'll create a new entry for the right barrel spacer and email you when its done
im currently working on the longshot plunger rod now
I use a similar technique

I did it with sandpaper as per Chris's advice, not seeing any of the above posts before I did it
After about 10 mins of sanding, the catch seems to work now more smoothly now, but I need to give it a few more test shots. Thanks for the advice guys!

Hey Chris,
Is there any chance you make barrel spacers for a rapid fire shotgun/doomsayer?

Re: Aluminium nerf parts
Yes provided they arnt too big. I'll need a template or detailed drawing or something
As my site says I do make custom parts, but I cant make custom parts without any input and I cant make any parts for blasters I dont currently own.

I think the plunger rod would be a pretty good seller, especially for those wanting to use fairly beefy spring combo's.
Cheers,
Got one order for the rod so far
Only problem is it increases trigger pressure with the alu trigger catch
Any other parts for any blaster that break easily I can make replacements for?
BTW I'm building my own machine to make more parts at once instead of one at a time, also going to computerise my lathe to make a certain time consuming part when making the plungers very easy

Re: Aluminium nerf parts
All you got left is the trigger, actual plunger tube and bolt assembly and shell. Otherwise if someone buys all your parts, they WILL have a BEAST.

I was in a bit of a hurry when I posted my question RE: RFSG spacer. Just checking in your online store, and see that it's a spacer that you currently fabricate. I'll have to get organised and order a couple soon.
On a side note, how do you think the alu plunger rod would work with just the standard plastic catch?
Cheers,

if anybody was to have a fully alloy longshot, they would have to get it professionally chromed in gold with diamond studded initials on the side. otherwise it wouldnt be worth it.
But seriously, i cant wait to get my alloy internals.

trigger really?

Cheers,
Like everything else, will work fine untill it breaks
frostythesnowman wrote:

all finished, just waiting for echeque
As for the alu shell
Try about $75 just in alu for a recon
Add hours of machine time
Design wise it would look crap as its real hard to copy complex shapes, unless anyone is good with cad
I also dont have a machine large enough to make it
Anyone willing to donate? So I can make a machine specifically for doing shells
On the plus side any accidental run over it with the car wont be a problem anymore

Re: Aluminium nerf parts
Yeh Chris,
Obviously it will work fine until it breaks.
I was more wondering about whether you thought that the alu end of the plunger rod would do significant damage/wear to the plastic catch...

Cheers,
Now that I smooth the catch parts down Im not sure, but it would do the same damage as if it was the other way around, alu catch on plastic rod.
The weight of the alu rod destroys the plastic brace in front of the tube
